This is a very nice unit with great sound. The only thing missing is an off switch. This means you must take off the 9-volt battery from the unit when not in use, to extend it's battery life.

In general, the sound of the Sennheiser HD448 is excellent. The levels have mellowed out some with use, but still keep a small harshness to the sound, but not to the point of distraction when listening to music. The bass is tight for headphones in this price bracket and you do not ever find that they are lacking bass. The sound is satisfying, even for long sessions and you don’t find yourself suffering from listening exhaustion with the Sennheiser HD448 frequently. These cans are becoming a sanctuary for this touring musician. Each of the components are there for reproducing recorded music superbly. Slip them on and the outside sounds slightly go away. Put on the music and the outside noises and distractions are gone, leaving only you and your tunes. The music sounds tight throughout the spectrum. You can use these cans both with and without an amplifier. If you use with an amp, it improves the volume and some key frequencies. The iPod volume has to be pretty near to %90 to have a healthy listening level without the amp. Obviously, the original volume level of the MP4 offers quite a bit to do with the output volume of the iPod. In comparison to the PXC350, the Sennheiser HD448 really blocks much more noise passively; however once you put some batteries and turn on the active cancelling of the PXC350 it much surpasses the HD448, but thats rather obvious. pro musician approved... : Sennheiser HD448 Closed Circumaural Hi-Fi Headphone

I bought these headphones to replace a pair of old Pioneer headphones that I inherited from my family. I wanted something best than earbuds to listen to when I was creating music. I also live in an apartment, and since the walls aren't that thick, with cheap headphones, I can sometimes hear exterior noise (like the Tv from the front room). I chose a pair of complete headphones to hopefully mitigate some of this noise.

Pros:
*Amazing sound quality! When I first started listening to my music in these headphones, I started hearing instruments and riffs that I had never noticed before. I don't know how much of that is the placebo effect, but it's amazing.
*When you put them on and you don't have any audio advent in, you can hear what is going on colse to you, and they don't cancel a lot of noise, but as soon as you start playing music straight through them, all the exterior noise goes away. I had some of my friends try them on and I talked to them at a normal volume, and every singular one of them insisted that I wasn't literally talking, just provocative my lips. They are that good.
*Very comfortable. They fit nicely on my head, and even after wearing them for hours, they aren't uncomfortable in the slightest.
*They come with an postponement cord and adapter for a larger plug style. I idea the short cord along with the longer postponement was a nice touch, and adding the adapter was literally nice also.

Cons:
*I can't think of any downsides, I'm literally thrilled with my purchase.


Summary:
A marvelous pair of complete headphones made by one of the premier manufacturers of headphones. You literally can't go wrong with these.

The best head phones Amp for under $100.00 : FiiO E7 USB DAC and Portable Headphone Amplifier (Black)

[Just out of the box...] The touch & feel and conclude of the stock is solid and I love the fact that fiio thinks of everything providing you with a screen protector and silicon glove jacket etc. Good study sheet.

During the first 20hrs of burn, I could not remarked any revising in sound capability on my K702 amped by fiiO E7 and driven from iPod superior - if anything, I idea there was a puny drop in sound clarity and separation. I was already very happy with the K702 unamped as the signature remarkable 95% of my music repertoire which comprised largely accoustic, tenors, mid vocals, etc.

What the E7 did however was to raise maximum volume by 10% which was irrelevant for me as I had found maximum volume driven from the iPod quite enough for my K702. [Max iPod Volume = 53/60 E7 Volume) Ditto the iPhone 3Gs. Setting the Eq Bass boost to +1, also improved bass presence in rock music eg U2, BonJovi & Black Eyed Peas. It afforded elegant ambient bass, adapting the sound signature of the K702 for listening to genres with more bass (but not heavy metal) Happier now ...

However, whilst there is a plus(+) I also found a minus (-)...after jiggling the Lod jack (1/8") several times in and out of the E7 Line In Receptor (bottom right), I suddenly found that connection was compromised and needed to be tweaked each time for optimum sound or it toggles in the middle of stereo and a hollow distant mono sound with parts missing. Does anything else have the same issue. I am a very rigorous person btw. A puny disappointed in that inspecting its $99 and not $59. - **Update Nov 19 Aest: The culprit appears to be the Lod L3 cable with shonky wires, as the E9 manifested the same poor connection using the same L3 cable.**

Apart from that my compliments to the produce team - you've done well. Looks great. Feels great. Bass is enriched without needing a pair of Denon Ahd2000/5000/7000. But output team please tighten your Line out jack receptor.

[K702 at 30hrs plus of burn] Following guidance & having left my hp on iPod via E7 (stationery) most of yesterday & today, I am beginning to hear a puny revising in the amped version which wasn't there before. I hope I'm not one of those who are imagining a diff to console myself. No I think I get it...what was previously a drop in clarity has now become "Smoother" richer sound via the E7. However, I still haven't resolved the connectivity issue but am suspecting it could be a combo of a faulty L3 wire and loose Line in port. Tbc.

K271Mkii fairs well/better as a standalone with the iPod. E7 distorts it a little.

Micca's products and packaging were impeccable.
